Why did the transparent background turn white? Check PNG and WebP output
Choose a transparency-capable format, distinguish display backgrounds from saved pixels and inspect fine edges before sharing.
JPEG cannot retain transparent areas
When a PNG or WebP with transparency is converted to JPEG, Pichn fills transparent areas with white. This is expected because JPEG cannot store transparency. Removing white later does not necessarily restore the original transparent edges. Keep the source file.
Choose another format that supports transparency
For PNG input, choose WebP; for WebP input, choose PNG. Confirm that the destination accepts it. PNG-to-PNG and WebP-to-WebP output are not offered. If you already have a suitable PNG, you may not need conversion at all. JPEG-to-JPEG compression is a separate supported option.
A white display background is not proof of white pixels
An app or website with a white background can make a transparent image look white. Check with a transparency-aware editor or against a colored background. A checkerboard pattern can also be painted into an image; it does not by itself prove transparency.
Inspect outlines and small text
Resizing a logo can make fine strokes or small letters less clear. WebP quality settings may also affect appearance. Inspect both the intended display size and a zoomed view. Keeping transparency does not guarantee that every outline looks identical.
Format conversion is not background removal
This conversion preserves transparency that already exists. It does not automatically isolate a person or turn a white JPEG background transparent. Animated images and multi-image files are treated as a single still image. Use a dedicated tool if you need background removal or animation preservation.
Pichn instructions describe the current implementation. Follow the destination’s requirements for uploading or publishing images.
