Photo upload rejected? A checklist for application forms
Check the format, byte size, dimensions and image content separately before editing an application photo.
Write down four different requirements
Separate the requirements into format, file size, width and height, and image content. A file under 500KB can still be rejected for the wrong aspect ratio or background. Follow the current instructions from the application provider; acceptance by one form does not prove suitability for another.
Convert the file rather than renaming its extension
For a JPEG-only form, choose JPEG output from HEIC, PNG or WebP. Changing a filename to .jpg does not convert its contents. Existing JPEG files can remain JPEG while being compressed or resized. Check the saved result against both the size limit and the required dimensions.
Understand how dimensions and file size limits interact
Crop & resize lets you work toward the required dimensions, but Pichn does not enlarge beyond the original. A file size limit can cause further resizing and produce dimensions smaller than requested. Check the actual result. For strict dimensions, try without a size limit or use a suitable dedicated editor.
Conversion alone cannot make an identification photo compliant
Background color, face position, photo age, shadows and permitted edits vary by provider. Pichn does not assess identification-photo compliance or automatically replace backgrounds. Avoid cutting off part of a face or making prohibited edits. This tool cannot guarantee acceptance.
Select the saved output and try again
Choose the newly downloaded image in the form. Compare its filename and size so that you do not accidentally select the original HEIC or an earlier result. If it still fails, send the exact error message to the application provider. Do not send private photos to unrelated people merely to diagnose a failed upload.
Pichn instructions describe the current implementation. Follow the destination’s requirements for uploading or publishing images.
